Now that we’ve kicked 2018 to the curb, there’s no better time than now to set your business up for success in 2019.

Sustainable success is something that doesn’t happen by accident.

With that being said, here are our best suggestions to reaching all your business goals this 2019.

 

Set One Realistic Goal

Running a business can be tedious. Us entrepreneurs have a ton of task that we need to do, and it’s not just because we ‘want’ to do it, it’s because we ‘need’ to do it for our business to continue on the right track.

⇒Ask yourself, “What is one of the coolest things that can happen with my business this year?

Use that one cool thing as your focal point. Forget about everything else and make that one goal your target for 2019!

⇒Once you have that one main goal, break it down into three little goals to make it happen.

⇒As a last goal setting step, give each small goal three habits. These habits should be incorporated into your daily life somehow.

Use the Right Tools

I know it sucks to spend money. One of the major obstacles I overcame was the fear of spending money on my business. I had to realize that my fear came from the thought that I wasn’t going to make the money back.

I’m all about the frugal life so forking out big bucks for business necessities was not my thing until recently.

There is going to come a time where you will need to fork out cash for the success of your business. (Investing in yourself.)

I’m encouraging you to not hold back. Worst case scenario, you spend that money on a burger.

This is something that’s overlooked by many digital entrepreneurs being that most of us are glued to our laptops 70% of the day.

Spending all day, everyday in your pajamas is an actual thing in the digital community.

Networking allows you to build healthy business relationships with others which can sometimes mean everything to the success of your business.

Make Money Blogging In 2019

Making money blogging is not something that’s far fetched, normal people like me are making it happen everyday and so can you. I bet you’re thinking, “how am I to get started if I have no clue what I’m doing or I’m a beginner at this?” No worries, we can fix that too.

Today I’m going to go over how you can make $100k+ per year as a blogger

(If you’re still wondering if this is possible for you, it absolutely is! If you believe in Santa Clause for 8 years, you can believe in your self for like 5 minutes.)

Last week I received a $1,348 from an affiliate through a blog post that I haven’t edited in months.

When it came through I was sitting next to my brother which I shared the news with. He was shocked, because he didn’t think blogging was something people actually made money from. If you’re still thinking about starting a blog in 2019, here’s a good place to start.

He honestly thought that I just sit and play around on the computer all day. His exact words were “how do you make money blogging?”

To be honest, it was so hard to sum it up into just one answer. Then I figured that he may not be the only one wondering “how do all of these people make money blogging?”

I used to sit online all day doing surveys and transcribing, which don’t get me wrong you can make money with those options. However, I knew I deserved more for my hard work and I believe that you do too!

1. Start by setting realistic goals

At first, it will be hard setting goals about how much money you plan to make because you may not have anything to base your set amount off of. Just keep that in mind when you are getting started. Your goals will become more head on as you go.

When setting your initial goals earning $10,000+ a month when you have no products to sell and no followers may not be ideal. Starting small with $100-$500 is a good place to start.

My first month blogging goals were:

  • Earn: $100 I planned on using it to invest back into my site being that I spent $49 on hosting
  • Pinterest Followers: 100

Now my goals look much more like this:

  • Earn: $20,000 per month. Currently saving for a new home.
  • Schedule 100+ pins a day (using Tailwind once a week)
  • Write 1 Weekly Newsletter using MailChimp.
  • Grow my Pinterest Following 500 a month.

GOALS ARE SO IMPORTANT!

Thinking about the amount of money you want to make for the things you want in life makes it so much easier to want to wake up and work for your goals everyday.

Thinking about being able to create the freedom you deserve because of the blogging business you created started to pay off.

Start your own money making blog

Before you can make money blogging or online, you need to actually build a site right? Starting a blog or building a site can be a lot to take on. There is so much you need to know, and it can seem hard if you’re a one man show.

2. Focus on one marketing platform

Currently, I focus on Pinterest being that it is my #1 source for traffic.

Side note: If you are new to blogging, but really want to increase the money you make blogging there are a few things that I recommend

Tailwind: Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduler I use daily.

With Tailwind you can find new things to pin by using group boards called Tribes, or searching within Tailwind.

3. I Make Most of My Money from my Sales Funnel

Having a sales funnel in place is SO important as a blogger. Not having or making enough money is so disappointing, especially when you so desperately want blogging to become your job like I did in the beginning.

For months I was unsatisfied with my income because I thought I didn’t need a sales funnel and I was making it out to be this impossible really hard thing to put in place.

After months of research and trial and error I finally figured out how to build a sales funnel and properly funnel people into it. This is KEY if you want to make money blogging.

The key to having a bomb sales funnel that works:

  • Knowing what your product is
  • Knowing who your audience is
  • Automation in place
  • Email list
  • Knowing how to target your audience
  • Knowing how and where and what times to post your products and opt-ins

Affiliate Links

Affiliate links are looked over all the time by digital entrepreneurs looking to monetize their business.

I’ve made tons of money over the years with affiliate links without really trying. I just kind of said “hey, here’s this really cool thing that has worked for me and maybe it’ll work for you too.”

Depending on which company you’re working with, you can profit thousands of dollars, I’ve seen it happen!

eBooks

eBooks are a great way to make money with your digital business. We are in the era of information, where there’s a lot of it floating around and it’s really easy to get. Why not become apart of that to leverage your income?

I’ve created a couple of eBooks one of which gained the audience of hundreds of readers. You can check them out here.

Many bloggers have become virtual assistants as a way to work in their field, gain flexibility, and still support themselves financially while building their business.

Even if you can’t find work as a virtual assistant, there’s a ton of WAH jobs out there just waiting for you to snatch them up. Check out 20 of them here.

Advertising

This is another major source that many people overlook when trying to monetize their blog.

For many bloggers, ads have become a main source of income. I will be realistic with you to give you some kind of idea on how much you can make and what you need to do to make a certain amount. In order to make anywhere from $800-$1600/month you would need to bring in around at least 100k page views per month.

I know that can seem like a lot however, if you check out this article on how to gain thousands of viewers through Pinterest in a couple of days, you’ll be there in no time!

Promotion

One of the main things I absolutely love about Instagram and Youtube, is that there’s promo everywhere!

It’s a win-win for both parties, the company gains exposure, popularity, and sales from referrals while the blogger earns actual cash from the company.

It’s an exchange process.

Normally how it works is either a company will reach out to you or you’ll reach out to a company to market/review their product to your audience in exchange for profit.

Passive Income

Passive income, means literally to make money in your sleep. This is the ultimate goal for most people.

If you’re someone whose wanting to some day wake up to random deposits in your account that you can actually live off of, working towards passive income is what you want to do.

This can be done  in many different ways. A great example would be creating a course or or workshop similar to these.

You want your content to be something that your viewers can access and gain from year-round. A great example would be this article. I published it almost a year ago, however I’m still profiting from it today.

The amazing part about passive income is that you get to choose what you want to create and then profit from your own creation.

Online Store

I’ve seen many bloggers attach an online store to their blog. It’s almost as if it’s expected for bloggers to have some kind of store or “shop” tab within their blog.

What you choose to sell within that store is totally up to you.

I’ve known others to make thousands of dollars off drop shipping alone, and then sell a course on how others can do the same.

Freelance

Recently, there’s been a plethora of bloggers and just overall digital content creators turning to freelancing as a source of full time income.

I myself have freelanced in the past and I still do some freelance work occasionally.

It is not wrong to use your audience to market your services. With them being already primed with your personality type and way of life, they are more susceptible to trust you with their money in exchange for your services.

Amazing platforms that others have seen major profit from within the freelance community are Fiverr and Upwork.

Paid Memberships 

Paid memberships, are something that many bloggers don’t think about doing.

For an example, when you’re paying $9/month for Netflix to continue steaming amazing tv shows every week it doesn’t seem like much right? It’s way cheaper than cable and you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck.

On the flip side, imagine 1,000,000 people using Netflix all paying the same $9/month fee, well that’s $9,000,000/month for one company!

You can take that same concept and apply it to your blog! Actually, I hope that you do!

Donations

Depending on what kind of blog you’re running and what kind of community you’ve built, it may be perfectly okay to ask for donations.

If you’re someone like me who doesn’t like to be too pushy, just leave a “donate” link at the end of each article or create a specific page where your audience can go to donate.

How to Create a Sales Page For FREE Using MailChimp

I know it’s been a little over 2 weeks since my last blog post if you haven’t checked it out yet click here!

While in the process of creating my first e-course, I thought what in the heck am I going to do with my two Pinterest Blog Booster packages?! Alright, I’m going to let you guys in on a secret that normally I wouldn’t tell but today I feel like it’s necessary. Before last week, I didn’t know how to create a legitimate looking sales page. Here’s why, literally almost every platform out there that you could use to create a fancy looking sales page COST MONEY! Now, I don’t know about you but I honestly don’t like spending money unless I have to, which is why I’ve became extremely good at finding cheaper alternatives.

As soon as I found out that I could re-create my sales page on MailChimp for FREE and make it look super fancy, I was like OMG I have to tell my viewers! Like, remember that scene on Bruce Almighty, when Jim Carrey was typing all cray cray on the computer…..? Totally me!

I don’t want you guys to think I’m leaving any important details out so I’ll give it to you step by step with screen shots. I got you covered!

Creating Your MailChimp Account

The first step would be to head over to www.mailchimp.com and click “sign up for free” in the top right corner of the page.Inked2018-05-19 at 00-41-46_LI

MailChimp has a Forever Free, plan that let’s you use MailChimp for FREE forever under certain guidelines. Here they are, you get access to most MailChimp features, but your total subscribers are limited to 2,000 and your email per month limit is 12,000. If you ask me, that’s a pretty darn good steal!

Making Your List

What I love most about MailChimp, is that everything you create on their platform is  designed to help you get more subscribers onto your list. With that being said, before you design anything on their platform you have to create a list first to connect your list to your design. I hope that made sense. The good thing is that you don’t need subscribers on your list to create your sales page, all you have to do is save the details of your list and you’re good to go. No worries, I’ll walk you through it with screen shots. 

After you’ve created your MailChimp account and successfully signed in, the tab you’d want to click on is “list” towards the upper left corner of the screen. Inked2018-05-19 at 02-04-53_LI

From the “list” tab in the upper right corner of the screen click on “create list”. This will bring you to a page prompting you to enter in the details of your list. When you’re done click “save” and voila, your list is ready for the world.

Creating Your Sales Page

From the “campaigns” tab, in the right upper corner of the page, you should see the options to click on “create campaign” or “create”. If you’re under the “campaign” tab, your page should look similar to my screen shot below.Inked2018-05-19 at 01-16-07_LI

Both options will open up the same box asking you “what do you want to create?” So, it does not matter which one you click on, just whichever button floats your boat. After you click on the button of your choice, you should see a cute little box open up on your screen with a few options, in this case you’d want to click on “create a landing page”.Inked2018-05-19 at 01-29-08_LI

After you select “create a landing page”, at the top of the box switch the tab to “product page” then enter in the title you want your sales page to be and then select your list from the drop down menu. When you click “begin”, it will bring you to a page similar to my image below. 2018-05-19 at 02-26-09

However, I was missing one very important aspect, a marketing strategy.

When most people see the word marketing, they think of pushy advertisements, and numbers. Trust me when I say that I am not exempt, I was like most people.

I thought marketing would be hard, and expensive so I just didn’t do much of it. I shared my websites on social media a few times and that was it. (big mistake)

Now, I love finding new ways to market my business. No seriously, it’s my definition of fun.

In fact, I love it so much, I’m going to show you exactly how to market your business like a pro.

Personalize your marketing strategy

I can’t even count on two hands how many times I’ve clicked on a great looking pin just to head over to their blog, and everything sounds robotic. Almost like, they’ve copied and pasted a script right off google.

You do not want that to be you, people will run from your website. It’s great to use guides as an example of how your marketing strategy should be, but you always want your readers to feel your personality.

Because your viewers can’t physically see you, there needs to be an indication that there’s actually a real person behind the screen that understands their problems and can actually help them. That indication is your personality. You can never have too much personality in your brand. It’s what makes your business stand out from all the copy-cats.

Spoon feed your viewers | Don’t be a salesman

One major mistake with my first two websites was that it was information overload. It was like I just kind of threw info products and prices at them as soon as they clicked on a link. I had a salesman mindset which came off as pushy. It wasn’t genuine, and my viewers could totally tell.

Treat your viewers as if they’re your babies (new born babies). They’re coming to your site for the first time, or reading your blog post for the first time so, this is all new to them. They’re hoping to learn something that they’ve never been taught before and they’re expecting you to teach it to them.

Here’s a check list that you should swear by:

1.) Build a relationship with your reader within the first few sentences. If you aren’t doing this, 9/10 of your readers are most likely clicking on to the next page without fully reading your content. They need to trust you. An example would be, “I want to help you because…..”

2.) After you’ve built rapport, jump right into the meat of your content. No fluff! I repeat, no fluff. It’s so annoying to read an entire blog post only to realize I didn’t actually take anything valuable away from it, and that it was all just a evil mind trick to get me to click on some pricey info product.

If you do this to your readers, they will most likely never read anything you post again. Which brings me to my next point…..

Give away a ton of free stuff

I know, it sounds crazy but trust me when I say this is a game changer.

There’s a ton of salesy people out there who will tell you “Put a price on everything.” Wrong!

Giving away valuable free content is the key to your success.

Not only will it drive an insane amount of traffic to your site, it will also build trust between you and your viewers. They may not buy the first time around but, after coming to your site for a while they’ll begin to trust that you’re not feeding them a bunch BS. So, when you do decide to present them with a sale, they’ll trust that their investment would help them out in the long run.

Give them proof

When it comes to buying a product or trying out something, nobody like to be first. I know, it’s tragic. Everyone want’s to know that someone else tried it out before them so they know it’s something they can trust.

How to give proof?

  • testimonials
  • analytics
  • reviews

This is not your show

It took me a while to realize that my website is not TheShannonShow.com. Yes, I’m running it but, it’s not about me even in the slightest. Unless you’re running a lifestyle blog (even then it’s tricky) nobody cares about your life. I know it’s sounds mean but it’s true.

Make your website all about them. What did they come to your site for? How can you help them?

Write everything as if you’re speaking directly to them face to face. As if it’s just you and your reader sitting down together for the first time.

Follow your visitors

I know, it sounds creepy right? But seriously, follow them!

When your visitors click off your site, that’s it they’re gone. There’s no way for you to keep in contact with them, like ever again.

Unless………….

You create opt ins for them. This way you will always be connected to them.

There is one major way to create opt ins for your visitors.

An email list. This is the most effective way!

And the last and most important thing is to make sure you place these opt-in EVERYWHERE!

What Should You Write About?

Before starting a blog it’s smart to know what you’re going to write about. After figuring out what your content is going to be about, It’s best to plan out your writing schedule, and what your “niche” will be. However, your niche does not need to be extremely targeted to be a successful blogger. You will see tons of post that stress this but it’s definitely not true. Whatever you decide on make sure it is something you’re passionate about, because blogging is not easy and I don’t want you to give up before you actually reap the benefits. A word of advice from me -Don’t let other established bloggers scare you, they started right where you are.

WordPress.org vs WordPress.com

The big questions that’s always floating around is -what is the difference between WordPress.com & WordPress.org. The site that you’re on now is a self-hosted WordPress site, this means that I own my domain (https://unlockingyoursuccess.online/). There are a ton of different platforms you can get signed on up for hosting. However, I highly recommend SiteGround being that it’s one of the most reasonable hosting platforms out there, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. WordPress.org is very simple to set up and operate. I highly recommend WordPress.org if you’re wanting to build a business out of your blog for the long run. It gives you more freedom, features, customization, and allows you to monetize your blog relatively easy. However, you do not have to start out with WordPress.org. You can start off on WordPress.com, and make the switch later if you want something more advanced. It is a very simple process that WordPress.com could walk you through.

Step #2 You can register a domain you already own, or set up a new one. Make sure that you’re really putting thought into what you want your domain name to being that this is what people will use when going to your site. Installing WordPress

After you complete your purchase you can easily install WordPress with a few simple steps. After you’ve signed up, you should have received an email from them. It will be a confirmation email that contains important information, such as your username, password and a link to your control panel. When you open your control panel by clicking on the link in your “welcome” email, enter your username and password, then log on in! 2019-04-04 at 23-30-36

Under “Wordpress Tools” section you will see a WordPress Installer, that’s where you’ll click to install WordPress. You will just need to fill out the form with your information, then click “Install WordPress“. It’s as easy as 1……2…….3!

When you click on “WordPress Installer” it will bring you to fill out some information. Then you can easily install WordPress.

When you’ve registered your domain and installed WordPress. You can access your blog by going to, enterblognamehere.com/wp-admin where you can enter your login information. This is your admin dashboard here you can write blog posts, change your themes, upload your images and plenty more.

Picking & Setting Up a Theme

When you’re ready to pick a theme (this is the skin of your website) open up your Admin dashboard, click on Appearance, then Themes. Here you can search, upload, and install themes. There are a TON of cute/cool free themes you can choose from to start with.
